Finding The Gaps In Your Wardrobe

If you have packed your summer items away then it's time to dig out the autumn winter wardrobe. To be honest I've been ready for my winter warmers for ages but of course the little heatwave prolonged the summer dresses for a few more weeks. Before you scroll for new in seasonal pieces, it's important you go through what you have already got before buying new otherwise you could end up wasting money.

Firstly, go through your items and remove the things that don't fit, are uncomfortable or no longer suit your current lifestyle. I enjoy this bit, rediscovering those items you haven't seen in ages and finding new ways to wear them. This way you will quickly identify the items you wear day to day and those purchases that were made last year that have not been worn, sometimes we hang on to items that we think we'll wear - it's time to ditch those.

Once those items are gone you should be able to see what you might be missing from your wardrobe and what you definitely don't need to keep buying. For instance, you might want to invest in a smart coat that you can wear to work or some good quality knitwear. In regards to my own wardrobe I know I'll be on the look out for a pair of black pointed ankle boots that I can dress up or down. I have my chunky sole ones which are great and are still going strong but are not quite right for every occasion. When shopping ask yourself do you already own something similar and can you style this with multiple items in my wardrobe? Use social media for outfit inspo but identify what's missing first. Try to see past the trends and think about what will work for you.
